How to get to the Gallery
The gallery is located in Muségata 2, in the city centre of Tromsø, just south of the Mack Brewery, a five minutes walk from the main square. The exhibitions is located in the café on the ground floor. Lena Liepe can guide you to the Gallery, and also arrange transport from the hotel. I can also guide you when I am not occupied with coordinating.

Signals
Exhibition at Tromsø Kunstforening November 22 - December 3, 2006.
Signals are known from most historical periods and cultures. From the first telegraphs via telephones, radio, and televisions to cell phones and the internet, the media have and an increasing influence on our daily lives and our dreams. These technologies have created new models, not only for how we communicate with each other, but also for how we understand ourselves and the world we live in. Signal technologies have fascinated and influenced both the avant-garde and the popular culture.
The exhibition Signals is a cooperation between Kunnskapsparken Faros and the research project Aesthetic Technologies 1700-2000. Bodil Børset and Yngve Sandhei Jacobsen, from Dept. of Scandinavian Studies and Comparative Literature, NTNU, Trondheim have coordinated the work.
The exhibition is presented in relation to the conference "Centre–Periphery.
Avant-Garde and the Other" in Tromsø, November 23–24, 2006. The primary aim of the conference is to investigate interaction between the Nordic avant-garde movements and the central avant-gardes in Europe.

Signaler er kjent fra de fleste perioder og kulturer. Fra de første telegrafene via telefoner, radio og fjernsyn til mobiltelefoner og internett har mediene påvirket hverdagsliv og drømmer i stadig sterkere grad. Disse teknologiene har skapt nye modeller, ikke bare for hvordan vi kommuniserer med hverandre, men også for hvordan vi forstår oss selv og vår egen omverden. Signalteknologiene har fascinert og påvirket både avantgarden og populærkulturen.
Signaler er et samarbeid mellom Kunnskapsparken Faros og forskningsprosjektet Estetiske teknologier 1700-2000. Faglig innholdsleverandører har vært Bodil Børset og Yngve Sandhei Jacobsen ved Institutt for nordistikk og litteraturvitenskap, NTNU, Trondheim.
Signalerutstillingen blir presentert i forbindelse med konferansen "Centre–Periphery.
Avant-Garde and the Other" som blir avholdt i Tromsø den 23. og 24. november. Det er Nordisk avantgardenettverk som arrangerer konferansen, som har til hensikt å undersøke forbindelsene mellom de nordiske avantgardemiljøene og de sentrale avantgardebevegelsene i Europa.
