A new installment, Early Russian Cinema, part 2, continues the
exciting series on the cultural heritage, mass culture and industry of
entertainment in Russia. The collection documents the developments of
cinematic forms and culture in pre-Revolutionary Russian cinema and
its social transformation from a modernist invention to a national art
form. The collection comprises a wide array of cinematographic
periodicals, published in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Riga, Revel,
Ekaterinburg, and Rostov-na-Donu at the beginning of the twentieth
century.
This collection will be published as part of the new IDC series Mass
Culture and Entertainment in Russia. This series will offer
collections of unique material about various forms of popular culture
and entertainment industry in Tsarist and Soviet Russia. More
